Our congregation cooperates with Kenya Hands of Hope to bring the Gospel of the Kingdom of God to East Africa. Recently we mailed this letter to our mailing list to explain our work there:
Dear Newsletter Friends, Some readers may be aware of all our activities as a Church of God. Probably most are not. So we want to take this opportunity to explain all of our efforts in doing what Jesus Christ directed His Church to do. Surely, any ‘Church of God ’ is expected to follow His directives through the entire Church age. Mat. 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Jesus speaks about the end of the age in other places. Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. We are a very small group of Christians holding to the truth once delivered in the first century. (Jude 6). Being small, there are limitations to our abilities. We are doing these things:
Holding local Sabbath services
Mailing Sermon CDs, free, worldwide ( request yours by phone or email )
Sponsoring local Christian broadcasts (Ron Dart’s ‘Born to Win’)
Publishing three Web sites teaching God’s Word
Publish a quarterly newsletter
Holding local public Bible studies
Hosting the annual Feast of Tabernacles
Yet now, because of technology and our presence on the internet, God has brought to us something we never anticipated. As you know, the internet has no physical boundaries. Our Web pages can be seen and read just as easily in foreign nations as in the USA. Starting last year, little by little, by email, individuals in Kenya have been seeking instruction in aspects of the Gospel. This came as a surprise. Yet when we answered questions and gave topical lessons we received an enthusiastic response. Several of these contacts are currently Sabbath keeping ‘elders’ who teach their small congregations from materials and emails we send them. They are ‘on fire’ to receive teachings about the Kingdom of God as correctly taught in the Bible. They discern the errors of the worldly churches. At first, we were wary of these contacts because of the well known scams coming especially from the continent of Africa. Yet, to our surprise, God has provided a means by which we can be highly confident about the sincerity of individuals who contact us from East Africa. Years ago, one of our members became acquainted with an individual, Bill Goff, who now has an established and active working relationship in Kenya; call it a ministry. He is able, through a Kenyan elder, to discern the true desire of those who make requests of our Christian teachings. So, not only have we been presented with this opportunity, but we have been seemingly set up in advance to be able to solve the most difficult aspect of serving people at distance, especially such a great distance as Kenya. We therefor have partnered with that organization in supplying materials and funds for the Gospel teaching going on there. Our Kenyan brethren are extremely poor, going without food some days each week. The Christian Church of God is funding the day to day expenses of the ministry, including occasional material assistance, year round. We are also funding a large part of the expense of the Feast of Tabernacles for them. We wanted to make our readers aware of this activity, as some may be interested in partnering with us. God has clearly opened this door through which we are walking. Those who normally send contributions may want to designate a portion for the Kenyan work. If so, please designate the purpose of any offering sent specifically for this new area of our work.
